Denise holds a BA in Psychology from Hampton University, and a Masters Degree in Psychology / Counseling and Administration from North Carolina A & T State University. She has 25 years of experience in counseling and administration. Denise recently held the position of principal of a summer at risk program. She is an educational mentor and advocate for increased self-awareness, which offers constructive feedback and develops useful action planning. Her background includes experience in the areas of teambuilding, empowerment, strategic planning and providing detailed performance appraisals. Denise serves as a catalyst for individual, educational and corporate growth and focuses on self-development and renewal.

A native of Winston-Salem, NC, Denise serves as a member of Leadership Winston-Salem. Her husband, Edwin McDonald, is an Assistant Principal in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School system. They have a daughter, Portia.
